Carmencita Reinforces Its Commitment to People with Coeliac Disease

14 may 2026

To mark International Coeliac Disease Day on 16 May, Carmencita is reaffirming its commitment to people with coeliac disease through a campaign focused on food safety, transparency, and consumer confidence.

The company, which specialises in spices, seasoning blends and flavourings, has spent more than 20 years developing specific protocols and control measures to ensure that people with coeliac disease can enjoy its products with complete peace of mind. In a sector involving multiple raw materials, industrial processes, and shared machinery, Carmencita applies strict prevention and monitoring procedures to minimise any risk of cross-contamination.

“Food safety and consumer trust are part of Carmencita’s DNA. Our goal is to continue developing safe, accessible products that respond to evolving dietary needs, while always providing clear and reliable information,” said Jesús Navarro Alberola, CEO of the company.

Control and Prevention from the Source

Carmencita’s commitment begins even before raw materials arrive at the factory. The company carries out a rigorous approval process for suppliers and raw materials, assessing potential risks associated with the presence of gluten and, in many cases, visiting suppliers directly to gain firsthand insight into crops, facilities, and production processes.

In addition, the company performs specific analytical testing on every batch of products and blends labelled “Gluten Free”, further strengthening product safety and consumer confidence.

Other measures implemented include the separation and clear identification of allergen-containing products in warehouses and on production lines, cleaning and disinfection protocols after certain production runs, and validation checks before production lines resume operation.

These procedures are complemented by specific measures for employees, including changing workwear after handling allergens, controlled access systems for certain areas, and the use of additional protective clothing in designated production zones.

“We know that, for someone with coeliac disease, trusting a product is far from a minor issue. That is why we work with extremely rigorous protocols and analytical controls that allow us to offer genuine guarantees to consumers,” Alberola added.

A Simpler Shopping Experience for Coeliac Consumers

To make shopping and product identification easier, Carmencita’s online store also features a dedicated “Gluten Free” category, bringing together all products specifically aimed at people with coeliac disease.

Through this initiative, Carmencita continues to strengthen its commitment to food safety, transparency, and consumer wellbeing, reinforcing the long-standing support the company has provided to people with coeliac disease.
