Cayenne chilli pepper

Cayenne chilli pepper, the hottest touch from Carmencita.

Cayenne pepper, named after the city of Cayenne in French Guayana, is the dried fruit of the chilli pepper plant.

You will like its strong, slightly bitter, smoky-like taste and its fiery spiciness.

We present it cut up to brighten up you dishes of pasta, fish, eggs, vegetables, legumes, chicken, casseroles or to add flavour to the oil for your pizzas.

Don’t forget to wash your hands thoroughly if you break it up with you fingers!

In ground form its is perfect for casseroles, preparing hot sauces to your taste like brava sauce or a hot tomato sauce or for pickling meats. Use it to add flavour to your chocolate desserts.

Known as chilli or ají en America, the confusion with the name “pepper from Cayenne” comes from when Columbus mistook this fruit for “pepper in pods”, the reason the sweet varieties of this fruit continue to be called “peppers” in Spain.

When consumed in moderation, the healthy properties of cayenne are celebrated the world over.
